How to Install
Follow these steps to securely install the add-in using our unified multi-version setup.

Download Installer
Download the latest unified package (v1.0.0.0 or newer) from the downloads section.

Run Setup
Ensure all Revit instances are completely closed. Launch the installer.

Select Revit Versions
The installer will automatically detect available Revit versions (2023, 2024, 2025, 2026). Check the boxes for the versions you wish to install the add-in for.

Launch Revit & Login
Open Revit. Navigate to the BIMUsers ribbon tab (Settings, AI Tools, Export Tools) and click Login to authenticate.

Secure Browser Authentication
We utilize OAuth 2.0 with a custom deep link protocol (bimusers://). This means you authenticate safely in your default web browser (Chrome, Edge, Firefox). Once signed in, the browser automatically hands the secure token back to the Revit application.

General Settings
Export Folder Path
Defines the default directory for all batch exports (PDF, DWG). Can be set to local drives or network servers.
Default Configuration
Saves your current panel states and window positions globally across all Revit sessions.
Updates Manager
Enable Automatic Update Check on Startup
Checks the BIMUsers Hub for new stable releases silently in the background when Revit starts.
Receive Beta Updates
Opt-in to receive pre-release builds. Not recommended for production environments.
Update Notifications
If a new version is found, an "Update Available" modal will prompt you with release notes. You can choose to "Update Now", "Later", or "Skip This Version".
License Management
Your license tier determines tool availability.

How do I install the add-in?
Download the unified installer, close all Revit instances, and follow the setup wizard to select your installed Revit versions (2023-2026).
How do I login?
Click Login in the Revit Ribbon. Your web browser will open for secure Google/LinkedIn authentication, then automatically redirect back to Revit.
How do I activate Premium?
Purchase a subscription on the main website. Once purchased, simply log out and log back into the add-in to refresh your license tier.
How do updates work?
The built-in Update Manager checks for new versions in the background upon Revit startup. If an update is available, you will receive an in-app notification prompt.
How to change the export folder?
Go to Settings > General in the add-in ribbon, and browse for a new default directory.
How to reset settings?
Navigate to `%appdata%\Roaming\BIMUsers\` and clear the local token/settings data.

Is Revit 2022 supported?
Support for 2022 has been dropped to utilize modern .NET functionality. You can download legacy installers from our archive.
Is there a Mac version?
The add-in relies on the native Windows Revit API. However, our web portal is platform agnostic.
Can I transfer my license?
Licenses are tied to your user account, not the machine. You can log in on any PC.
How do I join the beta program?
Go to Settings > Updates and toggle 'Receive Beta Updates'.
What is Error 401?
Error 401 means your authentication token expired. Click Login again to generate a fresh token.
How to configure proxy settings?
The add-in automatically inherits your Windows default system proxy settings.
Does it work with Central Models?
Yes, all tools are tested heavily with Revit Server and BIM 360/ACC workshared models.
Can I export families in bulk?
Yes, the Premium 'Batch Exporter' tool allows mass extraction of families from a project.
Is my project data private?
Absolutely. We never upload your RVT geometries or proprietary parameters without explicit intent (like Ask AI attachments).
Troubleshooting Hub
Quick fixes for common technical issues.
Problem: Browser Not Opening for Login
Cause: Windows default browser registry key is missing or corrupt.
Solution: Open Windows Settings > Default Apps, and explicitly set Google Chrome or Edge as the default browser.
Problem: OAuth Token Failed / Blank Screen
Cause: Browser is blocking the secure redirect protocol back to Revit.
Solution: Ensure your browser allows pop-ups/redirects for bimusers.com. If prompted "Always allow bimusers.com to open links of this type in the associated app", click Yes.
Problem: License Invalid or No Premium Tools
Cause: Local token cache is stale or mismatched.
Solution: Click 'Sign Out' in the ribbon. Close Revit completely. Open Revit and Sign In again to fetch the latest subscription state from the Hub.
Problem: Update Fails to Install
Cause: Revit or background processes are still locking files.
Solution: Make sure all instances of Revit are closed. If the issue persists, download the latest installer manually from our website and run it.
